Joseph P. Murphy is Vice President and co-founder of Shaker Consulting Group, Inc., a pioneer in work sample based candidate evaluation and the developers of the Virtual Job Tryout®. Joe landed his first HR position in 1980 and joined ASPA – now SHRM, in 1982.
He has conducted research, written about, and spoken on matters of objective candidate evaluation and staffing metrics for audiences around the world.
Joe currently serves on the Board of the North East Ohio Chapter of the Human Resource Planning Society (HRPS). He served three terms on the SHRM Staffing Experts Panel. Joe was also on the Board of Directors for the Employment Management Association (EMA) and is a past Chair of the Cleveland EMA.
Clients Joe has had the honor and privilege of working with include world class organizations such as: Diebold, KeyBank, National City, Sherwin-Williams, The Starbucks Coffee Company, and Quest Diagnostics.
Joe has a passion for helping companies document how staffing contributes to the bottom line. He is known as the person who asks the question: “Who owns the budget for staffing waste?”
