Instructions for Submitting a Presentation Proposal

Presentation proposal submission must be submiteed online by clicking HERE.

  • Speaker Name (s); Contact information, including name, organizations, title, address, phone, fax, email address.
  • Indicate the preferred title (be descriptive and inviting, 6-8 word max) for your presentation. Please consider having your session title tie-in with the conference theme of "Release Your Brilliance."
  • Write a brief (150-word max) description/abstract surrounding your presentation. This description/abstract will be used in conference promotional materials.
  • State the purpose of your presentation. Identify at least three specific learning objectives (i.e. “By the end of the session the attendees will be able to…”). Explain what is new or unique about the information presented and be as specific as possible about the learning opportunities that your presentation offers.
  • How are the objectives consistent with the topic session track and the theme of the conference?
  • Provide a full description of presentation for evaluation purposes (350-word max) for website.
  • Delivery Methodology and Process: Describe the instructional methods and learning activities you will use to convey the content and ensure participant interaction. Sample Handout/printed material is encouraged. These can include written summaries of your presentation as well as supplementary materials. You are welcome to include your contact information. Any handouts, surveys, marketing materials may be submitted as an online attachment to your presentation proposal.
  • Equipment requirements
  • Describe your level of expertise with regard to the proposed topic
  • For the program committee, provide a brief synopsis of your history and/or experience as a facilitator, presenter or trainer. Tell us why you would like to speak at this conference. You may also include your specialties, publications and membership in professional associations.
  • Provide a brief biographical statement (150 word max) as it should appear in conference materials.
  • Provide a longer biographical statement (350 words max) that will be included on the website.
  • Include a digital photo (minimum density of 300 dots per inch, acceptable formats include jpg, eps, or tif.
  • References: Contact information of three (3) persons who have heard you present. If you have led a session or workshop at a SHRM conference before, please state the year, session/workshop title and approximately how many participants attended the session. Please also list any other conferences or groups where you have presented.
  • Proposals MUST include all of the above information in order to be considered.

Proposal Review

Submissions are considered using a peer review process. The Speakers committee will review proposals and make recommendations to the conference Chair and core committee.
