GOLD SESSION: Steve Browne

Thriving in the CLASH !! – HR in the Real World !!

Learning Objectives:

  • Consistent Communication – The session will cover tools that will allow HR to be an effective, efficient communication hub with all business units, Executives and employees to ensure that the work environment stays away from the “Putting out fires/Peaks & Valleys” reactive approach to HR.
  • Thriving in the midst of conflict – The attendees will be given tools that allow them to promote consistency within conflict and also establish procedures and processes that will give employees great direction in how to perform at their best in their various roles.  It will dispel the model of “making people feel good” and define a model of “addressing people with the expectation of accountability.”
  • Integrating HR throughout the Company – The key learning objective will be showing attendees effective, tangible ways to make HR an integrated, strategic business partner who is essential to the success of the Company.  It will take HR out of the silo world and into the fabric of the company’s culture.

One of the most difficult aspects of HR is conflict.  In today’s work environment too many HR professionals have become very adept at avoiding conflict vs. jumping into the midst of it and being stars in their organizations by being solution oriented professionals inside the inevitable conflict that faces each company.

HR has operated too long in a “silo” model and it needs to be an integrated factor in all areas of a company’s business.  This presentation shows how HR can be that integrated presence that can help move the entire business forward.  This fact is essential for the future of the profession because the days of the “specialist” are soon coming to an end.

The other topics that will be covered include require the audience to consider some stretching in areas of: confronting conformity, liberating leadership and allowing anarchy.  Even though these may seem “out of reach” for the daily practitioner, they are actually very attainable and allows HR to truly be brilliant in their organizations.
